Star Trek: Into The Darkness
The second installment of the film |
After 4 years here comes one of the most anticipated film of Star Trek. The casts are back to reprise their roles.
The movie starts in an alien planet where they have to save the inhabitants from the volcanic eruption. After their arrival on Earth, Admiral Pike called Kirk due to the unreliable data which Kirk omitted in the Captain's log. Spock, on the other hand, narrated the true story behind their travel in the alien planet.
That act resulted from the removal of Kirk as Captain of the Enterprise.
Kirk explained to Spock that in the human world you don't stab your friend at their back. You have to show compassion to those around you, after all you are not a machine.
Kirk is right after all, a good friend will not betray his or her friend.
They found out that there was this agent, Harrison, responsible for the deaths of thousand of star fleet staffs in England. Later this agent was known as Khan.
Unknown to the Enterprise crew, everything was a set-up from the beginning. Admiral Marcus wanted to start a war and he secretly want Kirk to instigate that war. As Kirk's troop headed towards the planet where they believe Harrison was in hiding. Sulu called the attention of Harrison persuading that if he would not surrender they will fire a torpedoes. Harrison appeared and defeated the Klingons all by himself.
Arriving at the Enterprise, he revealed that his name was Khan. Due to the blood sample, they found out that Khan was a 300 year old super human. The torpedoes that they keep were carrying the 72 crew of Khan. Marcus held them prisoners so that Khan would participate in his schemes.
As the story proceeds, they engage in a fight that would simply take your nerves away from your body. The film touched my heart and made me realize that everything happens for a reason. Scotty undoubtedly resigned from his post, he thought that resigning from the Enterprise was over. Blessing in disguise came when Kirk called him to investigate a "scheme." That incident tested his loyalty to his Captain. He found out about the USS Vengeance of Marcus, as the ship was about to shoot the Enterprise, Scotty maneuvered the enemy's computer. Thus, saving the lives of the crew member of the Enterprise.
Admiral Pike with all his wisdom advised Kirk to make sound judgement first before actions. Hasty decisions would endanger the lives of his crew.
The message is simple. All of us would face a challenge that would dare ourselves to think about our actions. Every decisions that we have to make has a pros and cons. Our decision should be selfless and for the common good of all. We must apologize if ever we have done something wrong to our brethren.
Having and expressing our emotions are part of being human. Sacrificing your life for the benefit of others is a sign of an unconditional love. Kirk proves that he is a great man. He learns the value of humility in the process. He set aside his safety to save his crew, even though he knows that he's meeting his end by entering the main control room of the Enterprise.
Loyalty, friendship, humility and love are the values the film wants the viewers to see. Each film has their own genre and values which the society should re-examine their morals.
