Not the Typical Prince, Christian Grey

For one week,  I finished reading the trilogy of Fifty Shades of Grey. The story amazed me so much. I did not expect that the author will deal into the dark side of love. It was not just about pleasure for me. I find the story appealing in its own strange manner. Once I started reading the chapters of the trilogy, I saw Christian Grey’s soul.

Christian Grey may not be a man of flowers and romances nor your ideal prince charming. In his own unique way, indeed he is a kind of man that will sweep you off your feet. Christian may not give a bouquet of roses but he will give you a MacBook, blackberry and Audi R8. He will drive you nuts in his Charlie Tango and will simply take your breath away in gliding. Though a fictional character as he is, it reflects what men are in reality.

Even if Christian has so many issues, he proved that he is the kind of lover that once fell over heels with you. Surely he will not let you go. He will find a way to please and protect you at all cost. He is the kind of man that will always be proud of who you are. He does not delve into someone’s past, he knows he has a darker memories than you. One of Christian trait that I like the most is he splurge so much on the woman he likes. It is not because I am materialistic or what. What I am pointing at is, he wants to make his woman happy. I think in every relationship it is essential that both parties are happy and their needs are being met.

Every human being has angel-demon side. So whenever he is defied by someone, punishment comes in. The manner of his punishment has rules. If you think you cannot handle, use the safe words. I think it is ‘normal’ in each one of us, to express what we want. Definitely, if the rules are not followed, be prepared to face the consequences.

Christian may be a control freak, but it is the way he is. Through control, he knows he is the dominant. As the story progresses, he realize that too much ‘control’ may lead a one man in loneliness. We must learn the value of loneliness in order for us to be happy with our own company. 

By then, we will learn the value of someone or somebody into our life.  

Similarly in fairy tales, once the Prince Charming met his Princess. He will find a way to find and secure her at all times. If he needs to move the mountains and travel the thousands seas, so be it. He is the one who makes the first move to reconcile with Ana. He relents the day Ana left him. As the going gets tough, he hires a number of security just to watch over Ana, if by chance he will not be around to look after her.

Control freak or not, Christian’s soul is pure in love. He may have a messy past and he has a brighter future. Our past will make us for who we are now. The important part is, we learned from our mistakes and we mend whatever we done wrong. Life is colorful once we met the person who will love us despite our flaws.
