Reflections in Philosophy

3A students - this was my second period
This last 2nd semester our Professor in Philosophy in Education asked us to compose a weekly reflection about the report of our classmates.  So I decided to share it with you  ------ the one who is reading this right one.

Constructivism

Since I am handling Science Grade 3, there were times we were conducting our lessons at the ground. I advised my students to explore their surroundings and later analyze whatever they happened to discover.

Just last month, January our topic was about the different layers of the soil and the kinds of soil, we had our activity at the ground. They brought with them their gloves and I gave them the instructions that 1st they will dig the soil, 2nd observe and feel the soil and 3rd characterize the kind of soil and tell what certain part or layer of the soil is that. Furthermore, I also instructed them to classify, draw and color the renewable resources and nonrenewable resources. They should analyze if those things were man- made or God-given.

Nowadays, the school is following UBD, it is a new curriculum in the basic education that engages the students to explore, manipulate and find meaning with what they are doing.

I still could recall what my Professor in the Education Department told me once. According to him, I am the type of teacher that is more into experiential learning and if by given a chance he wants to “sit –in” in my class and be my students. He also narrates that I teach through experience and that what he likes most.
