Lessons from Frozen

Taken from Sta.Lucia's poster

So this holiday Walt Disney launched their newest 2D animation entitled Frozen.  At first, I was reluctant to watch since in the trailer it was shown its about a snowman and a reindeer. But due to the gossip inside the faculty that the worldwide ticket sales of Frozen beat the sales of Hunger Games: Catching Fire. So the following week, my friend and I watched Frozen.

Ailyn and I
Supposed to be, she would be sleeping all through out the film since working in a night shift call center could be tiresome. Alas, once the film is rolling, she could not help but watch it with me.

Then, my younger sister insisted that she also want to watch it. So the week before the Christmas Eve we watched it together.

My sister and I

The movie Frozen reminds me of a family bonding. It reminds me of a sister's love for her sister, with that my sister came first in my mind. Though it does not limit to sisters only, it teaches us how important is a family in the society.

Let it go
I immediately downloaded from youtube.com may fave songs from the movie. Of all the things I have been through especially this 2013 which is a tough year for me. I could relate from the songs. Its like a personal message from myself. It may sounds funny but its true.

Since as a kid and had may monthly period at age of ten, our Mom did not allow me to come out of the house. I have been locked up, did not enjoy my childhood days back then, only the TV kept me company. Just like Elsa and Anna, all their lives they are inside the castle and less social interaction with other people.  So for the first time during the coronation day of Elsa as Queen, the castle has been opened. So Anna has the chance to explore with gusto. Like her, once I am out of the house, I easily got this feeling of exploring my surroundings and enjoying the life of what should I'll be having.

Growing up is not that easy, since Mom locked me up inside the house, I could just watch other kids around my age playing and having fun under the sun. Some of them can go to places without a chaperon but on my part, she does  not allow me to go out without a companion.

While watching Frozen, deep inside I want to hug and say my gratitude to Disney for creating a movie like this. It brings back every memories of my childhood and the movie also serve as a personal reflection to reconnect with one self.

When Elsa left the castle and sang the song "Let It Go" , all the things I have been through with my life after College until now everything makes sense. I feel like God is talking to me and the story itself reminds me of my personal story. It made me cry because every detail shown in the film is an actual experience in reality.

Other than that, being branded as "No Boyfriend Since Birth" (NBSB), in relation to the lyrics of "For the first time:, where Anna is singing the part of "for the first time in forever, I could be noticed by someone....at least I got the chance.....a chance to change my lonely world ...chance to find my one true love..."  There was this man, a classmate of mine in graduate studies last year summer, he changed my life a bit and I admit meeting him gave me a chance to learn not to be so idealistic in finding the one. You have to be open-minded in a lot of things. My friends who are already married oftentimes remind me that "God will give you the exact opposite of your ideal one" and it is true. My former classmate is the exact opposite of my type. It happens when I decided to embark a new journey and indeed it renewed my views.

Frozen also reminds us when you fall in love it must not be in a hurry, you have to enjoy the moment, be patient and have faith. Taking risk and having an adventure of your life will unlock the opportunities you are missing. When Olaf, the snowman, came out of the story, a simple appreciation and acceptance of your self of who you are is essential in one's being.

Olaf is right when he states that "some people are worth melting for." Meaning to say, sacrificial love is an act of true love. Setting aside your personal interest for the benefit of others, is an act of great unselfish love.

At the end of the film, I finally realized why Frozen dominates the ticket sales worldwide. Thumbs up Disney for the marvelous story. Thank you so much for giving us life lessons from the movies you make. God bless you all!

I will surely share this story to my offspring when the time comes.
